History and chocolate

In addition to the Neckar and Steinach rivers, the old Schützenhaus building dating back to 1565 houses the Nürtingen City Museum with a literary section on the famous German poet Hölderlin.

The Beuren Open-Air Museum is located at the foot of the Swabian Alb and only 10 minutes away by car. It offers numerous events and activities that are perfect for a day trip with your family.

Surrounding area

Nürtingen is a medium-sized town and a starting point for many greatexcursions in the Stuttgart region. Ideally located directly on the Neckar River, you can quickly reach beautiful and exciting places.

Stuttgart is the home of Mercedes and Maultaschen (ca. 20-30 km)

The A8 motorway takes you quickly to the exhibition centre and Stuttgart Airport. 

World-famous musicals are brought to the stage in the SI-Centrum Stuttgart. The Mercedes-Benz Museum is the perfect place for car enthusiasts of all ages. From the TV Tower and Höhenpark Killesberg, you have a great view of the "Kessel."

Visit the student City of Tübingen on the Neckar River (30km)

The famous university town of Tübingen can be reached by car in less than 30 minutes. Driving along the Neckar River will get you there in no time. Here you will experience the lifestyle of a young student town that meets a beautifully restored, historic city centre. The Stocherkahnrennen (Stocherkah Race) takes place every two years in June. Every day along the banks of the Neckar River in Tübingen, you will find

Bad Urach is a spa town with a waterfall (24 km)

As the former capital of Württemberg and once the seat of counts, Bad Urach not only offers a historic city centre, but also a picturesque residential palace.

Every two years the famous Schäferlauf takes place, a traditional festival in honour of the shepherd guild. Bad Urach also offers you a thermal spa with sauna, the castle ruins of Hohenurach, and the famous Uracher waterfall. This can be climbed in simul-climbing, which ensures a very special outdoor experience! There are plenty of parking spaces nearby for your convenience.

Esslingen is the place for jugglers and maidens (25km)

Downstream, in the other direction of the Neckar River lies another great destination: Esslingen. The colourful, half-timbered houses characterise the picturesque Old Town. Every year in August, the onion festival is the culinary highlight of the region. In the winter months, people from afar come to the famous medieval Christmas market. With its various delicacies, arts, crafts, and jugglery games, it always delights visitors. The medieval castle rises above Esslingen, and the surrounding vineyards invite you to take a
stroll and do some wine tasting.
